We hope to see you next month for our annual North Bay Spring gathering! We don't want you to miss the usual Dances, Zikrs, Meditations, Sufi teachings and open-hearted conviviality at this beautiful and convenient site in the Redwoods ... nor the Qawwali music Workshop with special guest Sukhawat Ali Khan. In case you haven't registered yet PLEASE go to the registration page and do so. We need to know! If it's "probable" or "possible" you'll be with us, let us know that, and whether the entire weekend or part time.

A retreat in Fairfax with Pir Shabda Kahn & Gayan Gregory Long

In his seminal book "The Mysticism of Sound and Music" Hazrat Inayat Khan states that "According to the esoteric standpoint, music is the beginning and end of the universe. All actions and movements made in the visible and invisible world are musical." He signifies three subjects in music: Gayan, which means singing; Vadan, playing; and Nirtan, dancing. The qualities of singing, playing, and dancing are not simply found in what one typically thinks of as music; they can be found everywhere. Utilizing the Dances and zikr, pith teachings, and experiential activities, we will explore the beauty, depth, and bliss of the endless ocean of music. No musical experience required. (If you have a hand drum, bring it along.)
