Due in no small part to our financial support and the petitions we sent, the project has been completed and its placement approved. Great gratitude to our Sufi brother Roger Pritchard, himself British-born at the beginning of World War II, who took on this project in 2011 and has coordinated our efforts ever since. And we deeply appreciate the efforts of author <a target="_blank" href="http://shrabanibasu.co.uk">Shrabani Basu</a> in the UK, without whose loving, devoted efforts this never would have happened. That mission helped me justify what seemed like a lot to spend on myself (in both time and money!) given my circumstances at the time. I thought going to Mendo Camp would be a one-time pilgrimage of sorts. What happened was the most prolonged period of intense bliss I have ever experienced on the planet. I told people when I got home, "I must have been abducted by fairies because I feel like I have had months of vacation – but I was only gone for a week!" The spiritual atmosphere permeated my being until prayer sung in me continuously. I did zikr in my dreams. In fact, I knew right away that as long as I could still walk, I wanted to go every year for the rest of my life. I would get way too wordy if I tried to tell you some of the stories from those divinely intense, wild and wondrous sessions. Suffice it to say, some of those nights I am not sure how I got to bed – I must have floated to my tent! The Rave Will Go On! Solomon Kahn's DJ friends are descending on Mendo this year (with plans to make it a tradition) such that we will continue to have the ultimate dance party ending to our mid camp zikr. Our enthusiastic team of spiritual teachers, with loving leadership from Shafee and Khushi, recently sat down together to channel their wealth of positive energy and to place the final touches on the delectable details of their offerings. They are ready to bestow these abundant riches on you. Matin Mize, a master dance leader, mentor and drummer of great depth and experience will enrich our all-camp gatherings with Dances and Zikr. Shabda is currently the Pir (Spiritual Director) of the Sufi Ruhaniat International and the Director of the Chisti Sabri School of Music. He is a direct disciple of Murshid Samuel Lewis (Sufi Ahmed Murad Chisti) and worked closely with the great American Mystic Joe Miller. Shabda is currently the Pir (Spiritual Director) of the Sufi Ruhaniat International and the Director of the Chisti Sabri School of Music. He is also a disciple of the illustrious Tibetan Buddhist Master, the 12the Tai Situpa Rinpoche. He decades (since 1972) developing as a vocalist under the living guidance of the late Pandit Pran Nath, the Master North Indian Classical Vocalist, who planted the 800 year old oral transmission of Chisti Sufi Vocal Music in the Western world.
